Darumbal Access Visits to Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) 2024/2025
October 30, 2024
The Darumbal People have recently negotiated access arrangements with the Department of Defence as part of the Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) for Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA). To arrange a visit, the first point of contact is our Darumbal Liaison Officer, Kristina Hatfield, who maintains direct communication with the Department of Defence.
Eligibility and Requirements
Only Darumbal People, along with their spouses and children, are eligible to access SWBTA for cultural connection visits. A set process is in place for all Darumbal people over the age of 18 who wish to visit, including signing a brief that outlines important regulations and procedures agreed upon by the Department of Defence and DPAC. Compliance with these guidelines is essential to ensure the safety and preservation of our cultural heritage.
